It occurred to me that I have not yet written a piece about the man you see to your left. Here goes...
"to assume I wanted war is just flat out wrong, Helen"
-George W. Bush to White House correspondent Helen Thomas -
We truly live in an Orwellian world. Doublethink has become the standard for government. The quote above illustrates my point perfectly clear. People are dying in droves in Iraq this man tells us to keep shopping, and sadly Americans are complying. A year ago this man told us that we would be able to start reducing troop levels in Iraq. Last week he announced that there would be a "surge"(the man won't go near the word "escalation", probably because he can't pronounce it) of 20'000 more young Americans...hardly the reduction he said would happen.
Another favorite Bush quote: "As the Iraqi people stand up, we'll stand down." Guess what Mr. President, the Iraqi people are standing up....to shoot at American soldiers, they're standing up and screaming "Allah Akbar" before they blow themselves up at army recruiting stations, they're standing up and saying "Yankee go home". I'm sure at least two-thirds of Iraq is happy to have Saddam gone...but now they want us gone too" (wow how full of my self AM I to assume that 'ol Dubya is reading this?) I say we get the hell out of Iraq and chalk it up as a win because ...hey, we got rid of Saddam that's why we went there, right? Oh wait it isn't...but we'll take it.
Tonight the president will give his seventh state of the union speech and I will be watching, pen in hand to see how many lies he will spew.
"May God CONTINUE to bless America"
(author's note: If this sounds rambling in any way, I just got out of bed so cut me some slack)
